What’s in store for that unpredictable Ocean County weather…

This week is less about snow and storms and more about the temperature! Ocean County, New Jersey, faces a cold week ahead with persistent sub-freezing temperatures and wind chills dipping below zero.

Expect highs in the low to mid-20s°F and lows near or below 10°F with light winds and partial sun.

Check out the 10-day forecast here…

Sunrise/sunset

  • Thu, Jan 29: Sunrise 7:07 am, sunset 5:12 pm

  • Wed, Feb 4: Sunrise 7:01 am, sunset 5:18 pm

Ocean temp

This has stayed steady from last week, even as air temps plummeted. We’re still looking at around 40°F offshore near the Barnegat buoy.

Did you know…

The Barnegat Lighthouse on Long Beach Island (pictured in the weather section above) is the second oldest lighthouses in the US. It was built in 1857 and cost $60,000 ($2,235,324.14 in 2026 dollars).

“Old Barney” is 163 feet tall — also making it the tallest lighthouse in the state.

That’s it for this week.

That’s it for January. As we roll on to February, with its (slightly) longer days, let’s hope the temps improve quickly.

See you next week!
